The Summer Camp Program

StepStones' Summer Camp Program is for girls aged 10-14 who are referred to our program by teachers, social workers, or other community agencies/workers. Our program offers participants a nine-day camping experience in Northern Ontario. Through recreational activities and games, as well as life skill sessions, literacy programming, and swimming lessons campers are given the opportunity to improve their self esteem, conflict resolution skills, peer interactions, and learn about ways to make safe positive choices. StepStones is committed to providing great care and attention to our campers. Our program ensures a 3:1 camper to staff ratio and all members of our staff team participate in on-going training and development. In future summers, and with continued funding, StepStones plans to expand our summer camp program to address the needs of campers aged 5-16.

The Summer Leadership Program

StepStones' Summer Leadership Program is designed to provide intensive support, guidance, and training to a population of less privileged youth aged 14-16 who demonstrate leadership potential. Teachers, social workers, or other community workers refer youth to the program. Through a combination of team-building activities, volunteer opportunities, focused games, discussions, and recreational programming, positive self-image, confidence, and leadership skills are developed. The program is approximately two weeks in duration. This program also prepares youth for a more senior staff role as a camp counsellor or member of the programming team as our Residential Camp Program develops and expands.

Computer Distribution Program

"Sky's the Limit" has generously donated 60 computers to our participants this year. All the children in our program who did not have access to a computer for educational purposes were provided with a Pentium 4 Dell computer refurbished by Reboot Canada. We thank our partner Sky's the Limit for their generous contribution!!
