Established in 2004 in response to the critical need for prevention programs for vulnerable youth, StepStones works with youth who are:

  • Suffered abuse, neglect, and trauma
  • Economically disadvantaged
  • Are estranged from their birth, adoptive, or kinship caregivers
  • Lack supportive adults in their life
  • Struggle with mental health issues and substance abuse
  • Homeless or have run away from home
  • Have significant concerns with self-esteem or behaviour

70% of the youth in our program are aging out of the foster care system or are involved with the child welfare system. The youth in our program are between the ages of 15 and 24, and 95% of these youth were referred to us by other agencies. The StepStones summer camp has campers who are between the ages of 6 and 14.
