StepStones for Youth (www.stepstonesforyouth.com) is an innovative and dynamic charitable organization in Toronto dedicated to providing intervention and sustainable support for children and youth. Many of these youth are exiting the foster care and group home system or are currently living in foster homes and shelters.

The Opportunity

StepStones for Youth is seeking a full-time creative professional with a passion for communications and marketing. The Communications Coordinator will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our organization’s communication strategy. We are looking for a multi-talented individual with a flair for creativity, encompassing skills in photography, videography, graphic design, and copywriting and an eagerness and ability to develop new skills. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the development and program teams to visually and narratively convey our mission, engage our audience, and drive support for our cause.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Develop a thorough communications calendar and manage all communications channels including social, web, email, media, etc.
  • Develop compelling visual content, including photography and videography, to showcase our programs, events, and impact.
  • Create visually appealing and on-brand graphic design materials for both print and digital platforms.
  • Craft engaging and persuasive copy for various communication channels, including newsletters, social media, website content, and press releases.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication materials.
  • Work closely with media outlets to pitch and secure coverage, coordinate interviews, and manage press inquiries.
  • Plan and execute digital marketing strategies using platforms such as Google Ads and Meta (Facebook, Instagram). Monitor and analyze campaign performance, making data-driven recommendations for optimization.
  • Prepare and write comprehensive reports detailing the outcomes and impact of communication and marketing initiatives. Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement based on data analysis.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and incorporate innovative storytelling techniques to enhance our communication efforts.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in photography, videography, graphic design, and copywriting, with a strong portfolio showcasing creativity and versatility.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or other relevant design tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for and understanding of the non-profit sector and our mission.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated and high degree of initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment and ability to cope with changing priorities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills; accountability, reliability, and punctuality; and the ability to work effectively and independently under the pressure of tight timelines, competing priorities and emergent issues.

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 per year

This position will require regular in-office work.
