Our Mandate

StepStones for Youth is an innovative and dynamic charitable organization that provides high-level skill development support to children and youth who are economically disadvantaged and have a history of trauma and abuse. StepStones operates an overnight summer camp program and a co-ed mentorship and educational support program for youth transitioning out of the foster care system and their family home.

Our Story

StepStones for Youth was founded in 2004 in response to the critical need for preventative intervention programs for vulnerable young people. StepStones’ executives have extensive experience working in residential camp settings, community programs, and various programs for children in care.  A team of dedicated professionals has created a vision for a program that includes an overnight summer camp as well as extended programming throughout the school year for youth who need it most.  There were many late nights, working weekends, and a tremendous amount of volunteer support to turn the dream into a reality.  Each year, StepStones grows a little more, and we are thankful for the support of those who believe in StepStones.

Who We Serve

StepStones offers a number of programs for youth aged 6-24, including a summer camp for girls (age 6-14) and a co-ed program for youth between the ages of 15 and 24. StepStones offers skill based programming to children and young adults who come from unstable, low income homes and have been in contact with child protection, and/or legal systems. StepStones is committed to providing programming for youth in care, as well as for those transitioning.

StepStones Mentoring Program

StepStones’ Mentoring Program is offered through a partnership with Pelletier Youth in Transition. This program focuses on youth aged 15-24, and offers participants the opportunity to develop critical life skills, and accomplish identified program goals by pairing youth with caring adult mentors. Many youth from our summer camp program are connected with this initiative as a supportive extension to the experience they had while at camp.
