StepStones for Youth presents: Richard’s Story — a powerful journey from foster care to fatherhood, and from uncertainty to leading.
When Richard first connected with StepStones, he was navigating the challenges of the foster care system, a system that placed him in four foster homes, two group homes, and a single room to call his own.
But none of that defined who he was or what he could become. What Richard needed was what every young person deserves: someone to believe in him, consistent support, and a real opportunity to build a thriving future. Today, Richard is a father, mentor, and pillar of our team. As a beacon of hope and strength to the youth we serve, his story is more than one of healing, it’s a powerful reflection of the mission that drives StepStones for Youth – to uplift youth in and from foster care, and to create a future where no young person is left behind. Richard’s story is a testament to what’s possible when young people are met with care, community, and opportunity.
