Home for the Holidays
For many of us, the holiday season is a time of warmth and security. For youth who are in or have transitioned out of foster care, the holiday season can highlight the connections and comforts they have been lacking. At StepStones for Youth, we believe that everyone deserves a safe and supportive place to call home — yet youth from the foster care system are 193x more likely to experience homelessness and precarious housing than their peers.
Support a YouthHome is where hope begins. Be a part of the journey.
As the global day of generosity, Giving Tuesday, which this year is on December 3, is the perfect time to come together in support of youth who need it most. This day kicks off the season of giving, a time when we’re reminded of the importance of community and compassion. Through our Home for the Holidays campaign, we aim to provide youth in and from foster care with the stability, support, and safe spaces they deserve.
Every donation helps us fund vital programs that prevent youth homelessness and build stable futures. Join us in making this holiday season a time of hope and opportunity for vulnerable young people.
Our goal this Giving Tuesday, December 3, is simple. By the end of the day, we are aiming to raise $3,500—enough to support a young person in our Building Connections program for an entire year.
A Safe Place to Call Home
Every dollar raised in our Home for the Holidays campaign helps StepStones provide urgently required supports for youth to stabilize housing and meet basic needs, including first and last month’s rent, groceries, move-in expenses, emergency supports, and more. Rated as a 5-Star charity through Charity Intelligence for our high financial accountability, we ensure your support goes directly to these programs that provide youth with the foundation of a safe place to call home.
The Shuah Roskies Youth Homelessness Prevention Fund is open to young people in our program who are involved with Ontario’s Child Protection Services, have no support from their families and are at high risk of homelessness, are currently under-housed, or are currently experiencing housing-precarious situations. Young people will be able to apply for this support through our online Housing Grant Portal that was co-designed by Shuah.
